A Collection of Case Studies
(In-process & Untitled)
-
This project critically examines the formation of public space and its relationship with the community and the communal events/activities/history it houses by inserting and contrasting the dominant narratives with the "minority." Doing so challenges the narratives and identities that are "allowed" within these spaces historically.
-
The project investigates contemporary institutional spaces, understanding and analyzing their current form and development in the context of their historical beholdings, with particular attention to the struggles related to issues of race, gender, and culture.
-
The project employs dust as its primary material and means of inquiry, examining its contents and its symbolic/performative representations. By collecting dust within institutional spaces, the project interrogates the implications of this act of labor to the active community within these spaces. Ultimately, the project contends that the dust embodies a specific significance and offers entryways for understanding the complexities of these spaces.
